ICE Lab

We use ice to understand how and why Earth’s environment changed in the past, and is changing today, so we can more accurately predict how it will change in the future. We develop records of past climate change and air pollution by analyzing chemical markers preserved in glacier ice cores, which we collect through drilling expeditions to Greenland, Antarctica, and the North Pacific region, including Alaska and the Yukon Territory. Our research into how glaciers responded to warm periods in the past provides insight into how glaciers and sea level may respond to future global warming.

We are always interested in hearing from prospective graduate students! If you are interested in joining the lab group, please send Erich an email with a brief description of your research interests and background.
